Welcome to my first blog post ever! A little bit of our lives in Sicily…
Hi everyone! We’re still here 😉 I’m sorry its been a while since you’ve heard from us. In the past few months Abby turned 16! We’ve moved houses (though still in the same town), the girls have started school, and we started teaching English again.
I want to say a special THANK YOU to those of you who gave extra last month, that helped us to get moved and to settle into our new apartment. We are still without hot water and gas.. meaning we can’t take hot showers and I can’t cook with my stove. We have been boiling water (in an electric tea pot) for our showers and cooking with the crock pot and a borrowed electric grill.
The reason is because the owner of the apartment building hadn’t installed the meter reader for the gas… we are still waiting. His reasoning is, “everyone will not want the gas hook up”… so each individual who wants it has to pay for the installation themselves. We basically rented an empty box… everything is a-la-carte. We did, however, get a hot water heater installed, so we just need the gas to get the hot water.
We have many things to be thankful for in this season. Getting to live in a brand new apartment! Mildew free (currently). We have a garage that we can actually fit our 20 year old car in, hahah. Our rent is cheeper! And, now we have a view and can enjoy the sunrise. God has provided a few new avenues for us to meet many new people in our town (e.g. like having families into our home to teach English to).
We have some more exciting news to share, but you’ll have to wait for our newsletter!
Have a good day!
Sending love from the Alexes
